Issues Affecting Colorado Sportsmen

It is critical that we protect our water, wildlife and way of life for future generations.  That is why CCVEF has partnered with sportsmen across the state to make our voices heard at the State Capitol.  Our efforts, along with others in the conservation community, have led to the first ever statewide rules to protect wildlife from the negative effects of oil and gas drilling.

Implementing the Colorado Wildlife Stewardship Act. CCVEF and Colorado Wildlife Federation will make sure hunters and anglers have a voice in the implementation of the Colorado Wildlife Stewardship Act to ensure wildlife – and wildlife habitat – is protected when threatened by oil and gas development drilling.

Protecting the Roan Plateau. The Roan Plateau is home to some of the most pristine mule deer and elk habitat in Colorado. The fight to protect these public lands from surface disturbance is far from over, and we need your help to convince our decision-makers that these areas are worth protecting.

Protecting Rivers and Streams. In 1973 lawmakers created a program to protect streams that were at risk of running dry. In 2008 legislation will be introduced to update this program. Join with CCVEF to better protect our rivers, ensuring that Coloradans have places to fish for generations to come.

Oil and Gas Development. CCVEF is working with sportsmen to ensure that oil and gas development is done in a safe and responsible manner.
